In early April, the Craven Arts Council & Gallery issued a nationwide "Call for Artists" for its First Annual National Juried Sculpture Show. Sculptors juried into our exhibit were offered $12,000 in awards, including a purchase award and honoraria. Linda Dougherty, the Curator of Cotemporary Art at the North Carolina Museum of Art was our juror. Sculptures from 21 states, as well as Canada and Chile submitted entries. A twin exhibition of the winning entries will begin the evening of November 3. The accepted indoor sculpture will be on exhibit in the Bank of the Arts during the months of November and December.
Nine outdoor sculptures were accepted and will be displayed in the new Sculpture Park at the corner of Middle and Broad Streets for eleven months.
